Today marked an historic rejection of US influence as 128 member countries in an assembly of the United Nations Organization voted to refuse the US' declaration of Jerusalem as the new and true capital of Israel. Many more abstained, Canada being one of them. (Canada a bit gutless in its stance with the US these days...)
The Trump imperial regime of the US-led global empire was thus slapped. And so it should be, for its aggression, meddling, threats, and general contributions to the oppression weighing on the masses around the world today. Trump has been defiantly provoking many leaders and nations, stirring up animosity and creating danger, most notably in the Korea theater and just recently in Palestine.
What was the announcement on Jerusalem all about? It seemed to come out of the blue. Some commentators remarked that it must be Trump getting worried about the next round of elections coming up next year in the US. They claim that he wanted to please a large sector among his supporters, the evangelists. The evangelists have always been calling for Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel in their fear and contempt for Palestinians and Arab-Muslims in general.
Then there are a few observers guessing that the US needs to stir up another war, somewhere, somehow. Hence the bluster about Iran, Korea and so on. Below I paste the first part of an article on this point. It was published by Veterans Today on the web.

The already difficult situation in southern Lebanon and Syria was further complicated by the series of events, which contributed to the growing tensions in the region in November and early December. It started with a resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri announced from Saudi Arabia on November 7, continued with Saudi accusations of military aggression through missile supplies to Yemen against Iran and rose to a new level on December 6 when US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital sparking further escalation.
Some experts also said Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US are conspiring to start a new war in the region. In this light, “The Light of Dagan”, a major military exercise named in honour of the former Director of Foreign Intelligence Service of Israel, Mossad, Meir Dagan, was described as a part of the preparations for armed aggression against Lebanon.
The exercise lasted eleven days, from 4 to 14 September 2017, and involved tens of thousands of troops from all branches of service....
