A Year of Living Positively-Day 265

I am home after a tedious trip back. Though it seemed that the bus took the same route, it took two hours longer to return from Sokcho City than to go there. The driver spent more time on breaks, and traffic was clogged in a couple of places on the way back here, so I can account for an hour of the extra time, but I cannot figure how it took two.
I could not sleep. Rather, I played computer card games and wrote lecture notes. I tried to sleep and nearly did.

Of course, I kept thinking of L, and how remarkable it was meeting him. To think that the situation demanded that we get to know one another…I mean, I noticed him waiting around the Busan bus terminal, and it just so happened that he was going to Sokcho on the same bus. In fact, he was seated by the ticketing agent one row ahead in the seat in front of me. That’s when I first spoke to him. After I found my seat then went to stow my backpack in the cargo compartment, I returned to my seat and asked him a question as I was sitting down. I asked him first if he spoke English, and after he replied “yes”, if he intended to go all the way to Sokcho, During the rest break, he passed by me in the store and commented that he did not think the bus would stop at all during that trip. I told him I expected it would stop twice. Later on that break, he asked if I was going to Sokcho to spend time in the mountains, and I explained I wanted to do that and spend a day at the beach too. He said he was going for the hiking. Then it seemed as though Fate gave us another chance encounter when I spotted him at the end of a day of hiking walking alone toward the bus stop ahead of me. After that, we formed a traveler’s friendship.

I just unpacked and cooked up a pot of rice to have rice and tuna in a bowl. I just uploaded all my photos from the trip. I easily found L on Facebook, with a great mischievously smiling face framed by a rock climbing helmet. I will not ask to befriend him, at least not yet. I’ll give it time, and see if he makes the move first. I asked him to keep in touch over the internet.
