A Year of Living Positively - Day 135

The rain is so heavy today that I took a taxi up the hill to the campus. The people around me are so drenched that crowding together in the elevator resulted in my coat getting stained. It was  such a steady downpour that several students were late to all three of my classes.

Nevertheless, many of my students appeared glad to be reunited after the midterm break from normal classes. Spirits were good even after handing back test results, favorable and not.

A colleague came to visit me in my office later. He had one question but he remained just to have a chat. It is nice that colleagues do that these days, with the more open layout of the work space. Since L and I have refrained from barricading off part of our office in the way that others have done so as to conceal their office activity inside their offices, we have merely obscured the view letting in some light and leaving a feeling of spaciousness as well as openness, and the atmosphere appears to be attractive to some coworkers. They often drop by when they see us around just to hang out and chat.

I went home early because a technician was due to come over and hook up the cable TV and internet service. He was on time and now it's all set up. It's a relief to be able to use the big screen and a full keyboard. It's a relief to have a system that is faster and properly equipped.

I am, however, a bit scared to turn on the TV. I haven't done it tonight because I know it would be very distracting. I might keep it on too long flipping through channels and watching TV in bed, so I'll leave it for another time when there is more time to watch it. For now, though, I want to make sure I get a good night's rest because I should go to campus early in the day to mark essays.
