Transition - Rolling Forward

The move to Burnaby is in motion. I am excited. I am full of dreams of my future in the new place: flower boxes on the veranda, dining table, rug...I picture myself biking and shopping around the area. I will go up to the university campus, the old haunting grounds--maybe even find more employment there. I want to connect to the community.

I've even dreamed up the idea of a community news service for the area, which you can see added to the menu on this website: North Corner News for the Westridge district below the west slope of Burnaby Mountain in the northeast corner of Burnaby. It could even be an addition to my small business and personal income.

Today I bought the handsome sleeping mat that folds into a seat. I also set up utilities account and have ordered a new 43"-TV.

I will be glad to relax and live in peace on my own, the way I wish after years of unsatisfactory housing. Starting with the contentious, dilapidated and unhealthy bachelor apartment in the West End that I occupied for some 12 years before moving to Korea, I was then at the mercy of employer's staff housing, which was mostly tiny and minimally functional. Lately, I've been inhabiting a room in a house with unsuitable housemates where I have felt very constrained and uncomfortable. Finally, I get to create a little nest in a full suite in a building that is properly managed. Yea!

I am negotiating and arranging for the move of my household stuff out of storage to the new pad. At long last, I will be relieved of the burden of storage fees and be able to use all my belongings.
