A Year of Living Positively-Day 341

I have had lots more energy lately. For one thing, I have not been waking up so ridiculously early lately. I felt good after the evening class, in fact.

The writing class has been showing great potential. The last assignment was done quite well by the entire class. I have been teaching them how to read the news and summarize news stories. They get it! Next, they have to use the stories as supporting ideas and information for a discussion of a social issue in a lengthy issue. I want them to produce outlines, first, though. The final version of the essay is to take the place of a final exam.

I have got lots of marking this week. Considering quizzes done in three classes, and more writing practices plus monthly journals to evaluate, aside from in-class presentations and the incumbent scripts to mark, I have my hands full. I plan to work on Saturday or Sunday.

I think there will be time for some kind of farewell activity. I even think I’ll invite the Friday afternoon group to join me at a pub near the campus. I’ll offer to meet the next Wednesday group, which is also smallish, at a local café. As for the large conversation class, I’ll give them games for a while next Friday morning. For the writing class, which is naturally not as social an exchange as the conversation classes, I’ll just bring a treat for them and make the last class short.
