I felt wonderful this morning after more than nine hours of sleep. I was in a great mood on a great day, so I went for the hike up the local mountain. Not many people around, so we could enjoy the natural surroundings. The chipmunks and some colorful birds were out. The fall colors are still flaming, especially on the northeast section near the big temple.
J went into the first temple, a small one on the quiet trail above the campus. She carried a couple of kilograms of rice to make an offering.
The trip took just over three hours. We ended up at the big temple, Beomeo and stopped at a little place to eat lunch outdoors on a picnic table. I had a very fresh bibimbap (mixed rice with vegetables and a fried egg.
I had a totally positive perspective today, as opposed to the negative and nervous outlook yesterday. All the things I have to do this week seemed smaller compared with how I saw them yesterday. I was clear headed and confident again, back to my normal self.
Right after lunch, we took a bus to the subway and got on the next train. Strangely, we both had phone problems to take care of. I went all the way downtown to Seomyeon but J got off soon nearer to our neighbourhood. There’s got to be a KT company office nearer, but I know the one is Seomyeon. Besides, it is in a good location for shopping and I also wanted to get S’ birthday gift today.
Phone paid up and functioning again, I went into the big Lotte department store and got a deal on a set of nutrients in a gift box for S. It is his 50 birthday, so I thought I would get something on a health theme. I got a bottle of omega three oil made from Canadian salmon (S is Canadian) plus a bottle of multivitamins for men. The salesperson gift wrapped the box. One more errand done.
One the way up the hill after disembarking the subway train, I stopped into a discount mart to look for items for the birthday party. It is a theme party on the theme of Hawaii. In the end, I just bought a big brightly coloured fake flower to pin to my summer straw hat. I intend to wear brightly coloured blouse, sunglasses and the gaudy flip-flop sandals I wore for the Hallowe’en party. That should do it.
