A Year of Living Positively-Day 329

After another full day, I have not done much reflecting again. I hope to take a day to catch up with this project and the subtheme of social change.

So far, I can say that one can and should opt for leisure and special activities that are ethically and morally sound, and forward thinking. Social change can be a criterion in our planning and decision making. We in the richer countries are faced with an abundance of choices. Among all those choices, we can decide to some positive activity at least part of the time, activities such as seeing a documentary or drama on an important issue, doing something that expresses appreciation for nature and conservation, joining a group that in some way works toward betterment of society, shopping responsibly, participating in some philanthropic or charitable event, taking time to help out a friend or neighbour, read socially positive material, follow what is going on in your community and region, and so on and so forth.

We can consciously take on a fresh attitude that carries hope for positive social change’ that is alleviation of suffering and discomfort among the majority of people in the world. With that attitude, people can shape progressive lifestyles and encourage others to do so, taking our societies a few more inches towards a new day, a thriving peaceful and conscientious society that cares about people before anything else.

Positive thinking is not just about resolving one’s own situation, making one’s self feel better, and improving one’s own conditions. No, it cannot work like that and be very successful, which is to say rewarding, enriching and satisfying. It must consider one’s position or location in the community, and never forget that one is part of society. By engaging in positive thinking, a person can contribute to the harmony of the community, and help to enlighten and liberate the people around him or her from extraneous grief and ill-feeling. Moreover, one may likely be regarded in a more positive light in exchange. By working on a positive attitude and altering one’s behavior accordingly, one can earn more favourable responses and opportunities.
