I just stayed home out of the blazing heat, though it looks nice out there. I studied for about an hour and a half and I cooked up a pot of vegetable curry. I only went out to pick up dry cleaning and some fruit down the street, then check my mailbox. By the time I returned, after only about 20 minutes, my face was dripping in sweat. It is good to have air conditioning these days.
My boss contacted me. He wants me to drop by his office one of these days. His office is directly across from mine, and I have noticed he has been in, mostly in the mornings.
I had no need to return to my office on campus today, though. Because of the photocopier malfunctions, there was no use as the main task at hand is to finish copying the sections of my sources for my weekly lectures. I’ll continue the copying next week. I will have to meet the grad school coordinator next week.
I do intend to keep going to the campus fitness center. My back is better today. I think it’ll be all right to resume the regular workouts by tomorrow. I discovered that the back muscle that has been giving me trouble is bothered when I lie down in certain positions. I still do not know what caused the muscle strain in the first place. I do remember that the same thing occurred a couple of times last semester. At the time, I thought it was because I was getting out of shape. Strange that it reoccurred during a period of regular fitness exercises.
My mysterious quasi-niece also contacted me this week. She lives in another city but is a student at BUFS. I did not see her all last semester, so it has been about six months since I last got together with her. We plan to catch up next week.
In addition to those interactions, two of the colleagues from my building who have been left behind to teach this month are hanging around. We are supposed to go for a beer together later.
I intended to buy peaches, which have been good this year, but I came home with about a dozen nectarines instead because a guy with a truck at the side of the road was selling them at a low price. I bought them for that reason though nectarines you can find in Korea are generally not very good for they do not seem to ripen properly and remain hard. I’ll leave these nectarines for a couple days, but I can always cook them if they are not adequately formed for eating raw. They are nice when cooked in a pot with a little sugar and lemon.
