I'm at the domestic airport awaiting the flight to Seoul. Everthing is going smoothly so far, even though I printed out and presented the wrong boarding pass for this short flight. Somehow, I left the copy of the electronic pass for the departure behind. No matter, for the line up was very short and I had to check in a bag anyway.
I have the new hand-pulled carry-on bag and the garment bag. I've been told the garment bag is carry-on size and I would have liked to have carried it on were it not for the case full of gels and liquids inside it. I had to check in the garment bag and will have to pick it up at the Gimpo airport before I can get on the train and make the transit to Incheon International Airport where my departure flight for Europe takes off.
There is an out-of-controlled screaming toddler near me. Some kids do not travel well.
The taxi drive was amazing. Though I had thought I''d go directly to the subway, which is a ten-minute walk from my place, and then transfer to the airport express bus, I thought it would be safer to hail a taxi. It was about 5:45 a.m. when I left my building, but it was no trouble finding a taxi right away. Rather, one found me and honked at me from behind. I recognized it as one having passed by in the north-south direction as I was heading down the hil in the west-east direction, so the driver must have circled the vehicle around. I expected the journey to take at least 45 minutes even before heavy traffic started, but it is a holiday today, meaning that traffic is lighter than usual, and I was outside early enough. In fact, the ride took less than 30 minutes, and cost about 17,000w or $18 I therefore had time to get a coffee before going through the security scanning. I'm near my departure gate sitting in a cafe space without having purchased anything from this cafe, and the worker just waved me over with a smile. I guess I'll have to buy something, or move on. I\ll just move on.
