A Year of Living Positively -Day 113

I began the day with the second item in Confessions. I have uploaded the first item as a preview on the Smashwords website. The cover took some time to work out and get into a suitable file that the site would take, but it worked out more or less in the end. The cover bears a photo of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis , both wearing black suits, crashing into each other.

I think Jerry Lewis is representative of the klutz factor of any human population. I guess many people can identify with his slapstick goofy and caricature of the innocent bumblehauzer because there is at least a little bit of him in most of us. It is not hard for me, anyway, to come up with anecdotes of clumsy moments, and I am not ashamed to say it.

After I finished the finicky tasks entailed in publishing something online, I wondered about the interest in my Smashwords profile. I recalled that some 180 viewed occurred on this blog site the other day, and it dawned on me that it was probably because I had made submissions to the Canada Council of the Arts for funding for my writing. Oh, boy. They might be serious. In that case, I am glad I uploaded the preview of Confessions and updated my Smashwords profile while I was at it. Hello, Canada Council!

The usual calls got made on the campus up the hill on schedule. I called "uncle" at a more decent hour and he sounded well. My brother, on the other hand, was sick with a flu.

No pressing office work to be done, I headed for the bus stop on campus to go to the pool. I connected with a different bus and the traffic was kind of clogged in one part of town. I was in the pool by about 3:20. There seemed to be few lessons and exercise classes going on, so there were quite a few free swimming lanes open but there were about five people in each of those lanes, many of them men. When the pool is crowded, I feel pressed to swim fast so as to avoid pile-ups, so I just swam continuously except for a couple of short breathers or waits and I think I finished at least 700 meters, maybe 800 this time. The people there behaved reasonably well on this day. I enjoyed a thorough showering after without being molested in the shower and change rooms, too.
